READ Project
Our READ Project offers specialized tutoring, LD/ADHD screening, assistive technology, and digital literacy support to K–12 learners from marginalized, underprivileged or vulnerable backgrounds who require additional help overcoming learning barriers. The READ Project also has a dedicated stream for newcomers to Canada.
Our reading tutoring uses The Barton System, a multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham derived method. Our math tutoring uses ‘LD-friendly’ resources, such as the Math-U-See and JUMP Math programs. Digital literacy and assistive technology supports are available and personalized to each learner’s unique needs, helping them build academic skills as well as the confidence to navigate everyday digital environments independently.
In addition to academic support, the program includes empowerment-focused sessions designed to build confidence, life skills, and self-advocacy in young learners. These supports help students grow personally as well as academically. We also provide transition and navigation support for students and their families to help them move successfully between school stages or systems.
Support groups are offered in this program and are available online to all age groups across the province.
Fees
This project offers two one-to-one 55 minute online lessons per week. All the services available through the READ Project are fully funded (free), including free tutoring in reading and math.
